waaat.ch ("we", "us", "the site") is a movie recommendation service. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we process, why, and your rights.

1. What we collect

We do not require accounts, sign-ups, or any personal information to use this site.

  • Bookmarks and recent searches — When you bookmark a movie or use recent searches, this data is stored in your browser only. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
  • Technical and usage data — We and our providers may process technical data such as IP address, user agent, and request metadata for hosting, security, abuse prevention, and basic analytics.
  • Analytics event metadata — We collect limited event metadata (for example page path, clicked link/button metadata, and search terms submitted in the search form) to understand how the site is used.

2. Analytics

We use Simple Analytics (cookieless) and Google Analytics to measure site traffic. Google Analytics only sets cookies if you accept them via our cookie banner.

3. Third-party services

This site uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • YouTube (Google) — We embed movie trailers using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may set cookies when you play a video. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Amazon — We include affiliate links to Amazon. When you click these links, you leave our site and are subject to Amazon's Privacy Notice. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases.

We do not use cookies for accounts or personalization. Google Analytics cookies are only set if you consent. Third-party services (YouTube, Cloudflare) may set their own cookies for security or media playback.

Data stored in your browser (bookmarks, searches) remains there until you clear it. Server, security, and analytics data is retained only as needed for operations, security, and reporting, and may be retained by third-party providers according to their configured retention periods and policies.

This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
