waaat.ch ("we", "us", "the site") is a movie recommendation service. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we process, why, and your rights.
1. What we collect
We do not require accounts, sign-ups, or any personal information to use this site.
- Bookmarks and recent searches — When you bookmark a movie or use recent searches, this data is stored in your browser only. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
- Technical and usage data — We and our providers may process technical data such as IP address, user agent, and request metadata for hosting, security, abuse prevention, and basic analytics.
- Analytics event metadata — We collect limited event metadata (for example page path, clicked link/button metadata, and search terms submitted in the search form) to understand how the site is used.
2. Analytics
We use Simple Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service. We do not use first-party analytics cookies. Analytics processing may include limited event metadata that you submit or generate when using the site (including search-form text and interaction events).
3. Third-party services
This site uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- YouTube (Google) — We embed movie trailers using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may set cookies when you play a video. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Amazon — We include affiliate links to Amazon. When you click these links, you leave our site and are subject to Amazon's Privacy Notice. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases.
- Infrastructure providers — We use third-party providers for hosting and security that may process your IP address and set strictly necessary security cookies. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies
We do not set first-party cookies for account/login or personalization features. Third-party services we use may set cookies that are necessary for security, fraud prevention, or embedded media playback (for example when you play a YouTube trailer).
5. International data transfers
Some of our third-party providers may process data outside your country of residence, including outside the EEA/UK. Where required, transfers are handled under the provider's applicable transfer mechanisms (such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses) as described in their policies.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold, object to or restrict processing, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email contact@waaat.ch from the address you want us to use for correspondence and include details of your request. We may request additional information to verify your request and normally respond within 30 days.
7. Data retention
Data stored in your browser (bookmarks, searches) remains there until you clear it. Server, security, and analytics data is retained only as needed for operations, security, and reporting, and may be retained by third-party providers according to their configured retention periods and policies.
8. Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
